Two Tools in One
This tool offers two distinct modes to handle your PDF-to-image needs, giving you flexibility and control:
- Convert Pages to JPG: This mode is perfect for when you need to turn a document page, like a chart, a cover, or a specific slide, into a standard image format. It renders the entire page, including text, vectors, and images, into a single high-quality JPG.
- Extract Embedded Images: Use this mode when a PDF contains photos or graphics that you want to save in their original form. The tool scans the document and pulls out the actual image files, which is often faster and results in higher quality for photographic content than converting the whole page.
How to Convert PDF to JPG
- Upload PDF File: Drag and drop your PDF, or click to select a file. The tool will load the document and generate page previews.
- Choose Conversion Mode:
- Select "Convert Pages to JPG" to render pages as images.
- Select "Extract Embedded Images" to pull out existing images.
- Select Pages (if converting): If you chose to convert pages, click on the thumbnails of the pages you want, or use the input box to specify ranges (e.g., "1-3, 5").
- Adjust Settings (Optional): Set your desired JPG quality and add a prefix or suffix for the output filenames.
- Convert: Click the "Convert" or "Extract" button to start the process.
- Download: Download your generated JPG files individually or all at once in a ZIP archive.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. All processing, including PDF parsing, page rendering, and image extraction, is performed directly in your web browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your computer, ensuring complete privacy and security.
What is the difference between converting a page and extracting an image?
Converting a page creates a "screenshot" of the entire page, including text, graphics, and layout, into a single JPG. Extracting an image pulls out the original image file (like a photo) that was placed inside the PDF, often preserving its original quality and dimensions.
Can I convert password-protected PDF files?
No, this tool cannot open or process password-protected or encrypted PDF files. You will need to remove the password using another tool before you can convert it here.
Why are some images not found by the extractor?
The image extractor looks for standard image objects within the PDF. Some complex PDFs may contain images as part of vector graphics or in unsupported formats. In such cases, using the "Convert Pages to JPG" mode is the best alternative to capture the visual content.
